Annie had a new idea for a Roleplay. It's based off of these lyrics:

We are the people that rule the world
A force running in every boy and girl
All rejoicing in the world
Take me now
We can try
Empire of The Sun

Details are few and far between right now, but we think it's going to involve a greedy Empire, similar to the British Empire in the past, trying to enslave other nations. The twist is that the main characters, rather than being the good guys, might actually be the bad guys.

Also. Chip in ideas guys. This isn't a structured RP yet. We have very little in the way of ideas, so we'd appreciated any sort of ideas.

That's cool! An RP based off enslaving the other nations! Haha i like writing evil characters and doing it from the POV like they are the good guys would be great... until a resistance group pops up! ANd maybe we have some people inside the Empire who are double agents...

Ahh this sounds like it could turn out to be a fun sadistic RP ^^

This Roleplay is going to be somewhat based on history, but interestingly a re-write of history, not an exact re-telling.

We're thinking it's going to be pretty surreal. The concept will revolve around two kingdoms. One is the Empire which spans much of the world (the world will be fictional but similar to earth), and this is going to be have a fairly Ancient Greek Motif. That means a senate, phalanx soldiers, hoplites, trireme ships, togas and buttsex.

The kingdom that is getting invaded is going to be sort of Incan/Mayan, in a jungle. They have city defense mechanisms which are ahead of their time, made out of stone, and they're going to be fairly spiritual. They'll be isolated from the outside world, and the Greek-type Empire will be aiming to invade them.

This Roleplay will be surreal. So whereas in history Aristotle was the theologist teacher and philosopher to Alexander the Great, in this Roleplay he might be a drunken bum.

It won't be strictly based on history - you won't need historic knowledge. The only historic bits to the roleplay is the sort of setting (before guns, mainly spears/swords etc.) and the aesthetics of the time, such as culture and architecture of buildings and such.

We're not quite sure what's going to happen with this RP, but it's going to be weird.

The Roleplay will take place in the dreams of an individual. The characters within the Roleplay will be subject to his own thoughts. This means that, although the characters will always be the same, day after day the world around them and everything could change.

Ever had a dream that you really want to continue? The kind that you wake up halfway through and wish to see what happens next? That'll be what this is like. Everytime the world will change, and perhaps the winners of the battle will change daily as well.

There's going to be something interestingly odd about the Roleplay. As everything changes in the mind of the individual, the world will change as well. The civilians of the world however won't be aware of this. So for example, the group could spend the night at an Inn in a city. When they wake up, the city could look entirely different, because it's been taken over, or because the dream changes. The group are aware that things have changed, but ordinary people aren't, which leads the group to go a little insane ;s

ummm that's a little confusing...

To clarify: it's a historical dream that the RP members control? SO each one of the RPers can change the way of the world each post? Or should we designate a few people to be these "Gods" who are like normal people, but every time they get and idea they change the "world" to whatever the want. The rest of the people would be the people who live in the world and have to take these changes like nothing happened. Maybe we also select a few people who notice the changes and go on a quest to find out why.

We'll have to split up the RPers into three groups then:

Inhabitants
Questers

Are we basing the Roleplay off of this guy that has erratic dreams, or was that guy put there as an explanation as to the irregularity occurrences in the game.

... err, I'm not good at explaining things.

Basically I'm wondering if this game is based around this guy having the dreams or if he was simply put there to fill in the plothole?

It'll also be good because the main characters will be trying to convince characters in the fictional dreams that they're not real, but naturally the dream characters won't accept this. In the end, the main characters could begin to wonder what's real or not.

Also, the main characters when they're sucked into the dream could be divided at first, and put into different roles as if they've always been there. So for example one of the characters in the real world could be a scientist. When she gets sucked into the dream, she could be a whore working at a brothel. She knows that she's not a whore, but she could have been 'working' there for most of her life, even though she's only just entered the dream world.

Or another one of the people sucked into the dream could have an entire family in the dream world that he doesn't even know. Their first goal will be to find each other.

However, if one person awakes in the Empire, and the other finds themselves in a different kingdom, the main characters could wind up being enemies =D

Finalised idea for the Roleplay:

- A character is in a coma-like state. Close associates, friends/family/scientists are investigating.

- A new technology to enter dreams has been devised. Using this technology, some of the people go into the dreams to see if they can find a way to wake him.

- Inside the dreams, everything is messed up. Nothing is consistent. The characters who have gone into the dreams assume roles within this dream, for example one becomes a prostitute in the world. It seems as if they've been living in this world their whole lives. People recognise them, some of them even have families.

- They realise that they need to escape the world. The first task if for them all to find each other.

- Looming above this personal story is a conflict between the Empire and the Kingdoms that haven't yet been taken under control.

- The characters may end up becoming enemies depending on where they geographically appear. Not all the main characters have to be from outside the dream. Some can be friends they make in the dreams. However, the residents of this dream world don't understand that they aren't real.

- At points they'll run into the character who is meant to be in the coma inside the dream. They believe that he might be the key to their escape, so they try and find him. However, whenever he appears, the next day everything changes, so the characters eventually begin to be able to predict when things will change.
